The Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in Middle-earth during the time of The Lord of the Rings. It is based on information from J.R.R Tolkien's Lord of the Rings novels; as such, it deviates in small ways from Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movie series (although some of the imagery in the game compares favorably to those movies).
